Kilrush is a bustling market town with quiet roads perfect for a day out cycling with family or friends. Disconnect while cycling by the Estuary and why not take a break for a swim. Kilrush is blessed with several family-friendly cycle routes for all ages, capabilities and fitness levels.
Three cycle routes were identified and planned out by the Cycle Club, all starting from the Millennium Park.
- The Green (Town) Loop is 7km in length and is the easiest of the routes.
- The Blue (Estuary) Loop is 13km long and is rated as Moderate in terms of effort.
- The Brown (Heritage) Loop is 16km long and would be hardest is in effort, with a Difficult rating, particularly for those new to cycling.
The Green Route: kilrush town loop
Start at Millenium Park. Take the road towards Cappagh Pier. Pass the pier and take a left turn up Rock Road. Join up at the N67

The Blue Route: The Estuary Loop
Start at Millenium Park. Take the road towards Cappagh Pier. Pass the pier and continue on the road along the Shannon Estuary looping around at Aylevaroo Pier. Cross the N67 and continue to the end of the road where you will turn right to return to Kilrush Town.

The Brown Route: Heritage cycle
Start at Millenium Park. Take Pound Street onto Shanakyle Road at the end of the road turn right. Cross the N67 and travel on to the R483. Take the turn right to meet with the N68 and then on to the R473. Continue on to the centre of Kilrush Town to return to your starting point.
